Dover update

Update:
The chairman of the JRDC, Mr. Norman Minott, backed by the sitting executive, is committed to ensuring the proper sustainable development of Jamaica’s circuit racing product that will see increased partnerships with advertisers, competitors, spectators, service providers, affiliate clubs and organisations and the public. Several meetings have been held to arrive at the most practical solution regarding the way forward as both the club and the nation face challenging situations.

Work on the Dover venue has already started ahead of the October 21 race date.
This will be a one day race meet. Monday, October 21, 2013.

The timing loop antenna for the mylaps timing system has been acquired by the JRDC and will be installed before the end of this week and a test session conducted by Neil Williams of the JKA.
As originally planned for the August meet, both the Kronos and the mylaps system will be run in tandem for this meet with approximately 20 competitors using the mylaps system.

There are competitors who participate in karting or who have connections to karting competitors who own their own transponders and these will be used by them (Summerbell, Gore, Rae, Moodies), as well as there will be about 10 additional transponders to be used by select others.

The club is planing on an aggressive marketing drive for the October meet as it seeks to partner with drivers and their sponsors in the promotion of the circuit racing product across the island, with a specific emphasis as suggested by club members of using the pertoleuom companies as centres for advertising, promotion and ticket selling.

PRESS RELEASE: DRC AutoDex Championship Round No. 4

PRESS RELEASE
September 4, 2012

Re:  DRC AutoDex Championship Round No. 4

It is with great disappointment that we announce the postponement of the DRC AutoDex Championship Round No. 4, which was to be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Palisadoes International Raceway.  We have been having difficulties in securing corporate support for this event. This shortfall in financing, combined with the possibility of inclement weather on the weekend further threatening the viability of the event, has left us with no option but to postpone.

We would like to thank Chad-ad Distributors, Hawkeye Security, Ranger Security, Azans, the Jamaica Karting Association and i.am.teach for their support.  We would also like to thank our competitors from the last events who were anxiously awaiting this round of competition and those competitors from Western Jamaica who had expressed a sincere interest in entering this event.  We are deeply disappointed for any inconvenience caused.

We look forward to your continued support as we shall be hosting a motor sport extravaganza, the Tru Juice DRC RallySprint 2013 on September 22, 2013 in Bog Walk St. Catherine.  We will keep you advised as to the new date of the postponed AutoDex once this is confirmed with the JMMC.

JRDC chairman resignation

Dear JRDC Membership.
It is with much regret that I must tender my resignation as Chairman of the Board of Directors (President as we call it) of the Jamaica Race Driver’s Club.  This is due to personal reasons.

It has been a pleasure working for a greater cause this year, and our Club has accomplished much, including track/facility improvements, massive improvements in the quality of the show we present to our spectator and a sense of participation pride by our Sponsors.  This led to new Race Sponsors (MP 3/4 & MP1) coming on board, the first new race sponsor since David Jr. and I introduced the B45 sponsor 6 years ago.

I was blown away also by the renewed energy by our Title Sponsor for this year Rubis Energy Jamaica. We all saw how they presented themselves at the last event, and provided our spectators with an amazing Kiddies Village.  Thank you to Mr. Gary, Mr. Gibbs and Mr. Thomas from Rubis Energy Jamaica for stepping up.
Major thanks also to  Seaboard Marine and Michelle Marks, who has continuously been a tower of support for our local CMRC leg, and other activities geared at presenting more International Events at Dover Raceway.
To all other sponsors, it was a pleasure being associated with you.  The level of professionalism and zeal was second to none.  Thank you for the support, and I’m sure you will enjoy what’s to come.
Special thanks to the Media, who was very warm and receptive to me from the day I was elected.  They took me to task on getting things done and was very accommodating in helping us spread the word about what has been done.  Each media house, photographer and blogger has done their part to help build our sport, and for that I will always be grateful, and humbled.

To the JRDC Membership, I promised many things this year, and made a dedicated effort to deliver on most.  The next delivery takes place on September 11th, when the TRC will present next years rules as promised.  My request to them was to prepare & present rules prior to the end of this season.  The rules/regulations should allow for better participation and competitiveness, while having positive cost containment options built in.  Please give them your support moving forward, as they have worked tirelessly, and without prejudice on these rules.  Thank you to Charles Chen for taking this on in the way he did.

It is my belief that our Club is poised for great things.

Thank you all for a great experience with the JRDC.  I will miss seeing everyone at Dover Raceway in October, and next year.

Best Regards,
Christopher ‘Teach’ McFarlane
