Jamaican representative Alex Powell started the day where he left off yesterday, with a win in Heat 2 of the Mini ROK class in the Panamerican Rok Cup Challenge at the Autódromo Xrp Motorpark 1, Columbia.
Heat 3 saw a slight change of fortune for Alex; it started to rain hard during the Heat, Alex lost his airbox which meant he lost power, but recovered well to finish fourth. A disqualification of the Heat 3 winner (engine DQ) meant that Alex was credited with third, and will start tomorrow’s Pre-Final from Pole position.
“I have gotten used to the track and the kart is handling well. So I feel confident for tomorrow” Alex said about his chances.
Initially concerned by the possible effects of water entering Alex’s engine because of the missing airbox, John Powell reported “Engine was checked tonight as best as possible because we can’t break the seal. The mechanic cleaned it up as best as possible and everybody feels comfortable for tomorrow.”
The pre-Final is at 11:15am and Final at 2:30pm; both can be watched live at http://shares.enetres.net/live.php?source=CoreV1&v=B9E570CFE54949C7ABB985D4F8F77F7F0262
The JMMC wish Alex good luck for a safe and successful day of racing.
