Information regarding Jamaican Women In Motor Sport

Sara Misir

Sara Misir is the Caribbean’s 1st and only Formula Woman racecar Driver. She competes in the GT Cup Championships in the United Kingdom & Modified Production in Jamaica.

Sara entered the male dominated field of Motor Sports as a teenager. She first represented Jamaica as a junior equestrian who achieved a top 5 international ranking.

In preparation for the Pan American Games, 16-year-old Sara suffered a tragic accident where her skull was fractured in several places after being kicked in the jaw by her horse. She endured 6 months of hard recovery, reconstructive surgery and recuperation.

At 17 years of age, she was introduced to Go Kart racing by her father, Rugie Misir, and she has never looked back since.

Sara has achieved multiple podium finishes in Jamaica & the USA, along with multiple championships in Jamaica. She is a three time, and current (2023), RJR/Gleaner Motor Sports Athlete of the Year (female).

She is pursuing a Master’s in Architecture at Florida International University.

From a pool of over 10,000 applicants worldwide, Sara was selected as a winner in the Formula Woman 2022 competition in the United Kingdom. She has raced over 2 seasons in the GT Cup Championships at Snetterton, Oulton Park, Donnington Track and Silverstone.

She is a Sparco, Spectrum Systems and NCB Capital Markets brand ambassador.
