Overcoming another bad start, Jamaican Alex Powell produced a remarkable come-from-behind victory to win the MiniRok Final at the South Garda 24th Winter Cup in Lonato, Italy on Sunday February 17th.

Despite starting on the front row of the earlier Super Heat which sets the grid for the Final, Alex again found himself lower in the running order, 5th after a bad start. He drove hard to secure a 3rd place finish, which would be good enough for a second row start in the Final.

The start of the Final produced similar circumstances, with Alex in 7th position at the end of the first of twelve laps. Showing remarkable patience and pace he worked his way to the lead at the end of the seventh lap, holding 1st position for the next three laps. A slight error on the penultimate lap dropped him down to 3rd until he produced a breathtaking maneuver to overtake the two karts in front around the outside of a corner to reclaim 1st place. In the end the #JamaicanSensation won the title by almost a full second.

JMMC congratulates Alex Powell for his victory.
