Unlucky to be held up, eighteenth in qualifying wasn’t the position for Alex Powell had in mind prior to Friday’s first day of Round 2 of the WSK Super Master Series at South Garda Karting in Lonato, Italy.
“He got caught in traffic and had a terrible qualifying. For all Heats he starts in Group F, third row.” reported John Powell. “He’s upset and frustrated about the qualifying but other than that he’s okay.”
Moving up from his 6th place start in Heat 1 to 4th place after lap six of the nine lap race and closing in on the top three, Alex’s progress to the front was halted by a full course yellow flag before the end of the seventh lap, preventing any further overtaking.
The event continues tomorrow (Saturday) with three more Heats which help to set the grid for Sunday’s Pre-Final.
