Jamaican Junior karters Ryan Chisholm, Zander Williams and Thomas (Tommi) Gore competed in the final rounds of the inaugural Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy in Barbados on March 2nd & 3rd, with Ryan Chisholm claiming 3rd Overall in the Championship.
The weekend double header didn’t start well for the Jamaicans; rain at the start of Qualifying required a quick tyre change from “slicks” to “wets” but they missed the session, unable to swap to wets in time. Assigned 11th, 12th and 13th in the official qualifying results, good race results would be an obvious challenge.
Ryan showed great consistency to record finishes of 4th, 4th, 2nd and 3rd while Tommi Gore finished 3rd, 2nd, 6th & 4th. Zander Williams was unfortunate to be hit twice; in his first race and the final, DNF for both. In his other races he finished 6th & 5th.
Sunday was an entirely different affair; with no rain to upset their plans the Jamaicans claimed Pole and 2nd place in qualifying with Tommi being just ahead of Ryan, with Zander claiming 5th.
Tommi showed that his pole position was no fluke and recorded finishes of 1st, 2nd, 2nd & 1st to rack up the most points on the day and finish 4th Overall in the Championship. Ryan’s consistent 3rd, 3rd, 3rd & 2nd in the final sealed 3rd in the Championship while Zander’s 5th, 9th, 4th & 6th place finishes secured Championship 5th.
The JMMC congratulates them all for their Championship performances.
