Expectations were high for Jamaicans Collin Daley Jr and Thomas “Tommi” Gore before their arrival in Guyana for the Georgetown Grand Prix on May 11th. However, engine problems and accidents put a damper on their results.
Racing in the Junior class, Tommi encountered engine problems early on Friday. “He blew up engine one” reported Collin Daley, “engine two had problems as well, switched to engine three which wouldn’t start, got it started and it was just not powerful enough.”
On race day Gore finished off the podium in Race 1. “He pushed hard in the second race” reported Doug Gore, “lead to the last lap, got hit and went into the wall.” Tommi eventually pushed his kart across the line to record a 7th place finish. He was unable to report for Race 3.
Time spent assisting Gore with his problems cost Daley Jr who ran out of time to fine tune his own engine. “Qualified 4th, finished 2nd in the first race” reported Collin, “second race got hit from behind which resulted in a DNF and the last race crashed on the first lap and finished 7th.”
