17 year old Jamaican Travis Worton continued his race season at Round 3 of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship at Go Kart Club of South Australia, South Australia on May 17 – 19.

Racing in the KZ2 Shifter class, Travis qualified 13th of 24 entered. His father, Dover Raceway veteran William “Willy” Worton, described their race weekend.

“We rocked up in Adelaide and raced with no testing. Five official practice sessions and we got within less than 0.200sec of Pole, qualified 13th”

“Heat 1, good drive to 7th, Heat 2 9th, Heat 3 was a shocker finishing 19th after being pushed wide in Corner 1. Heat 4 DNF (Did Not Finish), started to drizzle and went off at the end of the straight at 130km/h. Great drive in Final starting from 14th to finish 7th. We slipped to 7th in the championship but (it’s) very close from 4th to 10th. Still in the game for a Top 5 finish”.

JMMC congratulate Travis for his result. His next race is Round 4 on July 19-21, 2019 at the Emerald Karting Club in Queensland, Australia.
