Jamaican Alex Powell had some bad luck but recovered to claim 3rd Overall in the Italian Karting championship after its final round at Val Vibrata Kartodromo on August 30 to September 1st.
“Alex qualified 11th and finished 7th and 4th in Saturday’s Heats but he got a bumper penalty which dropped him to 15th; he started Final 1 in 11th position” reported John Powell.
John reported that in Final 1 “at the start he got up to 8th but after the first lap it was evident something was wrong with the kart as it was wobbly all over the track. Alex did well to recover to finish 14th” noted John. In Final 2 Alex started from 14th position, and drove determined to claim a spot on the podium; at the finish he was “3rd in Final 2 and 3rd Overall in the 2019 Italian Championship”.
After the event, Alex posted “I wish it would have gone better in the first Final but it seems we had a tyre issue. Thanks to Lui, Simo, Mike and Revolution for sorting out the problem and MA for strong engines all weekend. Overall P3 in the Championship!”
JMMC congratulate him for his result.
