The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club congratulates Fraser McConnell for his historic nominations in three categories of the RJR/Gleaner Sports Foundation Awards.
Announced by RJR/Gleaner Sports Foundation Selection Committee Chairman Hon. Mike Fennell, OJ on Wednesday December 8, in addition to McConnell being nominated for Male Motor Sport Athlete of the Year, he is also nominated for the Sportsman of the Year and People’s Choice Awards.
McConnell’s triple nomination is historic, as it is the first occasion for which a motor sport athlete has appeared in three RJR/Gleaner award categories. McConnell joins David Summerbell Jnr as the only other Motor Racing driver to be nominated for Sportsman of the Year.
McConnell’s nomination for Sportsman of the Year recognizes his “steady climb up the World Rally Cross rankings” and for achieving a first for Jamaica in 2021 when winning the first Super Car race in the Rally X Nordic Championship. The People’s Choice Award nomination is for his “Historic win in the Nordic Rally Cross Series in February” and ensuing jubilant celebration, for which fans may vote online. JMMC will issue a separate release regarding the People’s Choice Award with additional information.
JMMC wishes McConnell good luck in his nominations.
