Jamaican race driver Chris ‘Teach’ McFarlane may have signaled a seismic change in Caribbean motor sport when he entered an electric SUV in Round 1 of the 2024 Barbados National Autocross Championship and won the Bushy Park event outright.
McFarlane drove a stock 430-hp MG MG4 XPower all-electric car. Adapting to driving without the traditional aid of a handbrake, Teach had to remain smooth and steady, eventually producing his fastest time in his final attempt to secure the overall victory.
The next autocross in the championship series is scheduled for April 14th at Bushy Park, Barbados.
