Jamaican Alex Powell battled a lack of race pace at the Mugello Circuit, the fourth round of the Italian F4 Championship season, finishing 5th, 6th and 8th in the three races during the weekend.
After Race 1 of the weekend, Powell said “It was a bit of a difficult race, a tough weekend so far. Yesterday’s qualifying wasn’t ideal, not too bad, but we put ourselves in a bit of a difficult situation for today. We made some moves on the Safety Car restart, it was a bit tough to manage with dirty air and managing the tires throughout the race with degradation, and so on.”
Despite the challenges faced, Powell recorded two wins and a second place finish in the Rookie class, and leads the overall Rookie Championship standings.
Powell’s next race is Round 5 of the championship at the Paul Ricard circuit in France this weekend, July 20-21.
