The Jamaican rally team of Jeffrey Panton and Michael Fennell Jnr finished 2nd Overall in the 2018 Martinique Rallye Tour event in the French-Caribbean isle of Martinique.
A “small off” on Special Stage 2 resulted in a cracked rim and a loss of 12 seconds to leader Simon Jean-Joseph, before wrong tire selection plagued the Panton/Fennel team on SS3 & SS4.
On the second day, tire issues would once again prove to be a major factor, co-driver Mike Fennel saying “Tires gave out on the second lop. Had a spin exiting a hairpin. Spectators had to push us out.” The resulting loss of time put them out of contention for the overall win.
The JMMC congratulates Jeffrey & Mike for their 2nd Overall finish despite the problems encountered by the team.
