JMMC Leadership Meets with FIA President at Miami Grand Prix
The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club’s newly elected President, Jeffrey Panton, recently held a productive meeting with FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem and FIA Vice President for Sport – North America, Daniel Coen during the recent staging of the Formula 1 – Miami Grand Prix.
The meeting formed part of the JMMC’s continued engagement with the FIA as Jamaica’s officially recognized ACN, focusing on strengthening the relationship between the FIA and Jamaican Motorsport while exploring opportunities for growth and development across the island and wider Caribbean region.
Discussions centered around the advancement of motorsport through increased collaboration, training initiatives, grassroots development, and the continued implementation of FIA programs designed to improve standards, safety, and participation throughout the region.
The JMMC also took the opportunity to outline its ongoing efforts to modernize and rebuild the local motorsport landscape through stronger governance, increased engagement with clubs and stakeholders, and the development of new initiatives aimed at encouraging wider participation in the sport.
President Jeffrey Panton expressed his appreciation for the continued support and encouragement shown by the FIA leadership and reaffirmed the JMMC’s commitment to working closely with the FIA in pursuit of long-term growth and sustainability for motorsport in Jamaica.
“This meeting represents another important step in strengthening Jamaica’s position within the international motorsport community. We are committed to creating opportunities for our competitors, officials, clubs, and young enthusiasts while ensuring the continued development of the sport at every level,” said Panton.
The JMMC views the meeting as a positive step toward deeper regional cooperation and future opportunities that can benefit both Jamaican motorsport and the Caribbean as a whole.
