Qualifying without the aid of a helpful draft, Jamaica representative Alex Powell still put his kart on the front row, qualifying second fastest for this weekend’s WSK Final Cup at the South Garda Karting circuit in Italy.

His fine form displayed at last week’s ROK International Finals continued in his first MINI ROK Heat. Despite being involved in an incident that saw the pole driver drop more than a dozen places and three other drivers receiving time penalties post-race, Alex only lost two positions, making one up before the end of the first lap. He quickly moved to second position one lap later, then into the lead on the fourth lap, extending the gap to win by 1.4 seconds at the end of nine laps.

John Powell remarked “He drove well, started on the outside and worked his way forward”.
