Jamaican Alex Powell begins his long European season today at the WSK Champions Cup at the Adria Karting Raceway in Adria, Italy.
With his kart assigned the premier number 501 as acknowledgement of his status as reigning Champion, Alex is the first racer from the Caribbean to carry the #1 in a WSK event. With eighty-two competitors entered in the Mini class, competition is very close, as evidenced by his time in Qualifying being good enough for 8th on the overall list.
In his first of five Heats Alex made no mistakes, quickly moving through the field to claim 1st place at the finish. The event continues tomorrow (Saturday) with four more Heats which help to set the grid for Sunday’s Pre-Final.
