17 year old Jamaican Travis Worton continued his race season at Round 2 of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship at Newcastle Kart Racing Club, New South Wales, Australia on March 29 to 31.
Racing in the KZ2 Shifter class, Travis qualified 6th of 22 entered, then recorded finishes of 5th, 6th, 2nd and 5th in the four Heats. His father,
Dover Raceway veteran William “Willy” Worton, described what happened in the Final.
“He made a mistake in the Final, engine bogged and he got swamped into corner 1, hence 10th in the Final” reported Willy. “He showed great pace all weekend and demonstrated he’s one of the front runners, and moved up to 6th in the Championship.”
JMMC congratulate Travis for his result. His next race is Round 3 on May 17-19 at Go Kart Club of South Australia, South Australia.
