Jamaican Alex Powell battled through three days of competition against 127 racers in Mini ROK to claim the title of 2019 Mini ROK Champion at the ROK Cup Superfinal, held at the International South Garda Circuit of Lonato, Italy from October 9th to 11th.
Alex began Day 1 by qualifying 19th of 127 entries in the competitive Mini ROK class. He dropped to 6th at the start of the day’s only Heat, but steady progress produced a 1st place finish. On Day 2, Alex maintained 3rd place throughout Heat 2 before mounting a charge to the front in Heat 3, claiming another 1st place. A 2nd place finish in Saturday’s Heat 4 placed Alex on the second row for the start of the Final. The Final was a true Champion’s Drive, with Alex showing his determination after claiming the lead; on the last lap he refused to relinquish the lead despite being bumped off the track. Keeping a cool head he held off all challengers in the sprint to the finish.
JMMC congratulate him for his Championship win.
