The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club celebrates Alex Powell, fondly known as the “Jamaican Sensation”, for his outstanding performance in Round 4 of the 2025 Formula 4 Middle East Championship, held at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on February 15 and 16.
Powell’s weekend began on a high note during free practice on Friday, February 13, where he topped the session ahead of his team-mate Emanuele Olivieri. The momentum continued into qualifying, with Olivieri clocking the fastest time in the first session at 1:55.571, followed by Powell dominating the second session with a blistering 1:55.330.
The young Jamaican star delivered three stellar podium finishes across the weekend:
- Race 1: Powell initially crossed the line third but was promoted to second after Olivieri, who led from start to finish, received a 10-second jump-start penalty.
- Race 2: Starting eighth due to the reverse grid system, Powell showcased his exceptional racecraft, carving through the field to secure third place. His main rivals failed to finish, tightening the championship standings.
- Race 3: Powell started from pole and delivered a flawless performance, never surrendering the lead to claim his third victory of the season.
With this triple podium, Powell has now recorded five consecutive podium finishes, including three victories, since Round 3’s first race, where an unfortunate puncture interrupted his campaign. This impressive streak makes him the highest points earner over the past five races, catapulting him to third in the championship standings with just one round remaining.
The final showdown will take place at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar from February 26 to 28, where Powell will aim to continue his impressive form and challenge for the championship title.
The JMMC congratulates Alex Powell on his remarkable achievements and wishes him the very best for the final round of the 2025 Formula 4 Middle East Championship.
