FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 27 2025 – The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) proudly announces that the Grenada Motor Club (GMC) has officially joined the highly anticipated Caribbean Drag Racing Championship (CDRC) for the 2025/26 season. This exciting development marks a significant expansion of the championship, further solidifying the region’s position as a hub for high-caliber motorsport competition.

The CDRC, officially launched in February 2025, is a groundbreaking initiative that brings together top-tier drag racers from across the Caribbean in an invitation-only championship that celebrates regional talent and motorsport excellence. Originally featuring competitors from Barbados, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, and Jamaica, the addition of Grenada enhances the championship’s competitive landscape, offering fans and racers alike even more thrilling on-track action.

As a closed competition, racers are invited by their National Sporting Authority (ASN) to represent their country at no cost of entry to them. The CDRC is a joint initiative spearheaded by the JMMC in collaboration with the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), the Barbados Association of Dragsters & Drifters (BADD), the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMRSC), and the Trinidad & Tobago Automobile Sports Association (TTASA). Now with the inclusion of the Grenada Motor Club, the championship continues to expand its footprint, uniting the region through a shared passion for speed and competition.

A Unique Format for Regional Excellence
The CDRC introduces an innovative points-based system wherein racers earn points by competing in three of their locally staged national events. The top 16 competitors in each class across all participating countries will then be invited to battle for supremacy at the Championship Final in Jamaica in January 2026.
The championship features two competitive classes:

• Pro Street (10.999 to 10.000 seconds)
• Pro Race (9.999 to 9.000 seconds)

This format ensures a high level of competition, with only the best racers in the region earning their place in the finals. Championship winners will receive trophies and prize money, with additional winnings awarded to the champion’s National Sporting Authority.

The inclusion of the Grenada Motor Club signals an exciting new chapter for Caribbean motorsport. Grenadian racers now have an opportunity to showcase their talent on a premier regional platform, competing alongside the best in the sport while fostering camaraderie among Caribbean nations.

Chris Elliott of the FiA Drag Racing Commission stated: “We are pleased to welcome the Grenada Motor Club (GMC) to the Caribbean Drag Racing Championship. Their commitment strengthens and unites drag racing across the Caribbean. The GMC has demonstrated dedication to the sport’s growth, and with competitors from Pearls International Raceway now part of the CDRC, the future of regional drag racing looks brighter than ever. Welcome to the CDRC family—we are excited for the road ahead!”

Jeremy Peters, Vice President of the Grenada Motor Club, added: “The Grenada Motor Club is delighted to be a part of this historic moment as an official member of the CDRC, which will transform drag racing in the wider Caribbean. Our organization will do all in its power to make this championship a great success for years to come. We do hope to see a Championship Final in our tri-island state of Grenada. Best regards to all as we seek to build motorsports in the Caribbean.”

JMMC Chairman Stephen Gunter commented: “We are thrilled to welcome the Grenada Motor Club to the Caribbean Drag Racing Championship. Their participation enhances the championship’s competitive depth and further strengthens our mission to unify and elevate Drag Racing across the region. We look forward to witnessing Grenadian racers make their mark on the CDRC stage.”

As the countdown to the first event in Jamaica begins, excitement is building for what promises to be an electrifying championship season.
