JAMAICA MILLENNIUM MOTORING CLUB (JMMC)
Newsletter to Membership
From the President & Executive Committee
Dear Members,
Since assuming office, the Executive Committee has been fully engaged in laying a strong, transparent, and sustainable foundation for the future of motorsport in Jamaica. We are pleased to share an update on the key areas of progress to date.
Financial Review & Accountability
A detailed review of the previously presented “audited” financial statements is currently underway. This process is being conducted with the support of a qualified professional accountant to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper compliance.
Where necessary, corrections and/or a full restatement will be undertaken so that the Club’s financial position is clear, reliable, and fully aligned with best governance practices.
Engagement with Motorsport Clubs
We have had some meetings and continue to hold meetings with representatives across all club genres to better understand their individual needs, challenges, and priorities.
This is an ongoing collaborative process, with key areas already identified where JMMC can provide support. We will continue working closely with each club to strengthen the overall motorsport ecosystem.
Accounting Systems Modernization
To immediately improve transparency and efficiency, a Point of Sale (POS) accounting system has been implemented and is now in active use for all financial transactions in 2026.
This system allows for:
- Real-time tracking of income and expenditure
- Improved record-keeping accuracy
- Immediate access to financial data for better decision-making
This marks a critical step toward modernizing and regularizing the Club’s financial operations.
Officials Training & FIA Programs
Training and development of officials remain a top priority.
Participation in programs under the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has been ongoing, including:
- Online certification courses
- In-person training sessions overseas
These initiatives are aimed at elevating the standard of organization, safety, and professionalism across all disciplines of motorsport in Jamaica.
International Representation
At the request of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), our President was present on Qualifying day at the recently held Miami Grand Prix to be formally introduced to the FIA President, Mr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, Vice President for Sport (North America), Mr. Daniel Cohen as well as within the international motorsport community.
This engagement represents an important step in strengthening JMMC’s relationship with the FIA and enhancing Jamaica’s presence on the global motorsport stage.
Rally Jamaica – Ongoing Discussions
We are actively engaged and are engaging in discussions with relevant clubs and stakeholders regarding the organization and future of Rally Jamaica.
The objective is to ensure that any staging of the event is properly structured, sustainable, and reflective of the highest standards expected of a national event.
Entry-Level Motorsport Championship
Recognizing the importance of accessibility and development, discussions are ongoing regarding the introduction of an entry-level motorsport championship.
This initiative is intended to:
- Lower barriers to entry for new competitors
- Provide a structured pathway for talent development
- Strengthen the long-term growth of the sport locally
Grassroots Motorsport Development
In addition to formal championship structures, we are also exploring the introduction of additional grassroots-level events across multiple disciplines.
These initiatives are aimed at:
- Creating more accessible entry points into motorsport
- Encouraging wider participation across the island
- Identifying and nurturing emerging talent
- Building a stronger foundation for the future of the sport
Caribbean Drag Racing Championship
We are currently in discussions to do our best to facilitate the hosting of the Caribbean Drag Racing Championship, as previously pursued by the prior administration.
These discussions are ongoing, and we will provide further updates to the membership as progress is made.
Moving Forward
The work being done is deliberate and focused on long-term impact rather than short-term fixes. While there is still much to be accomplished, these initial steps are critical in restoring confidence, improving governance, and supporting the growth of motorsport across Jamaica.
We thank you for your continued support and engagement as we move forward together.
